Stained concrete has become a pretty popular option for household flooring – unfortunately, it’s not so great when it’s your garage flooring that’s been stained with grease drips and oil spills!
For decades, the standard way of getting an oil spill off the floor was Quik-Dri, aka Fuller’s Earth, aka plain old kitty litter. The pulverized clay would soak up the spill in an hour or so, then you’d sweep it up and throw it away. Now there are products like Pour-n-Restore; pour it on (in liquid form), wait until it dries to a powder, then sweep it up and dispose of it.
Pour-n-Restore actually bonds to particles of oil, brake fluid, or antifreeze and draws them up out of the concrete; it’s also environmentally-correct and safe to use.
Along with garage flooring, driveways tend to see a lot of wear and tear; weather, the weight of cars, expansion/contraction, and root growth can eventually cause cracks. There have been a number of driveway patches introduced over the years, but we’ve found
Pli-Stix Crack Filler to be one of the best. Simply put a length of plastic-wrapped Pli-Stix into the crack, heat it with a handheld propane torch for 30 seconds, and it quickly dries to a permanent bond. Made from the same compound that road crews use, Pli-Stix works great on asphalt or concrete either one and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
Driveway Medic is another great driveway patch, for bigger problems; it’s a heavy-duty fabric impregnated with asphalt that you just cut and press into place.
