Recently my 34gal Chevy truck was relieved of its fuel. Needless to say I had some premium choice words for whoever is the scumbag. What to do?? AUTOSPORT online! The cap does not have the ability to utilize the existing plastic retention cable. Otherwise the product works well.

We purchased two of these caps, one for my car and my husband's. This cap caused the "gas cap" warning light to come on. The owner's manual states that continued driving while the light is on will cause the "check engine" light to come on.After speaking to our mechanic, he said that due to more stringent emissions standards, these after-market caps rarely, if ever, work.He instructed us to remove them and put the original caps back on the cars. Fill the tanks, drive them for a bit, and the "gas cap" light should go off. If it didn't, we needed to bring the cars in to to have the codes cleared.My mechanic assured me that gas could not be siphoned from newer model cars. He said that after the issues during the 70's gas shortages, the car makers made design changes to ensure that gas tanks could not be breached with any type of siphoning equipment.I would suggest you save your money and skip these caps.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry to hear you had a problem with your gas caps. It sounds like the gas cap may not have been installed properly which was causing the gas light to come on. Stant is actually the OEM manufacturer for almost every OEM gas cap on the road. Modern cars are much harder to siphon gas out of, but not impossible. An anti-theft gas cap helps provide an additional deterrent to siphoning gas and encourage would-be thieves to move onto another vehicle if that is their intent. IT ALL STARTED WHEN I WENT OUTSIDE OCT. 1ST...(2 WEEKS BEFORE THE GAS CRUNCH IN CAL.)I NOTICED 1 OF MY LOCKED 4 GAS CANS-(5 GAL.OLDSCHOOL STEEL MILTARY GERI CANS)WAS GONE!! THEN WENT OVER TO MY MOTORHOME & 1 GAS CAP WAS OFF(NO GAS WAS SIPHONED)SO I THOUGHT I BETTER LOCK UP ALL MY GAS CANS IN MY STORAGE SHED & GET THESE LOCKING GAS CAPS FOR THE RIGS 2 GAS TANKS & 1 FOR MY DAILY DRIVER. THEY WORK GREAT,JUST LIKE FACTORY!! YES I WOULD RECOMEND THESE TO OTHERS

I have never had gasoline stolen from any of my cars - but that's not to say that there can't be a first time.This product should really be standard equipment on all cars, in my opinion, especially as it is so inexpensive and easy to use.I keep one of the keys on my keyring and the other on a spare keyring (normally left at home but always taken with us when we go on a trip).Having this on your car will dissuade almost all thieves from attempting to steal your gas (they'll just go on to some other car not a great thing but there is really nothing you can do about that!).This cap is very well made, operates perfectly, and the peace of mind it affords makes it a well worthwhile purchase.AutoSport's service on my order, as well as its packing, was exemplary.I highly recommend this item to all.

I had gas stolen from my Jeep twice in 2 weeks and decided to invest in this locking cap. The fit is snug but secure. No gas has walked off in the night :) It took me a few weeks to remember that I had to unlock the cap at the gas station. A positive on this is that since I have 1 of the keys attached to my ignition key ring, it helps me ensure I don't lock my ignition keys inside the vehicle (again!).The shipping was fast on this and I will definitely shop AutoSport again.
