How do they work?AutoSocks are made from high-tech fabric containing specilized fibers that become "hairier" with use. They’re arranged in a specific pattern in order to optimize grip. The specially developed textile manages the water film found between the icy and snowy road and the tire (generated by heat from the sun, or wheel spin), thereby maximizing the grip.
How well do they work?
AutoSocks are more effective than winter tires and are also more effective than snow chains in certain situations. They have been tested and formally approved by several leading car manufactures, and TÜV SÜD in Germany. AutoSocks can be mounted on summer tires and winter tires (with or without studs).
In what sort of conditions can I use them?
They will improve traction on snowy or icy surfaces. It is recommended that you take them off when you get back to dry road conditions. During an approval test by German agency TÜV, AutoSocks passed the distance and durability requirement of the snow chain norm (ÖNorm 5117). Nevertheless, we do not recommend asphalt and concrete driving because it increases fabric wear considerably.
How will my vehicle drive with AutoSocks installed?
AutoSocks do not produce the loud rattling and the bumpy ride associated with snow chains. Because there is no danger of damage to the vehicle structure, they are approved for speeds up to 30 mph. Of course, your speed should always be appropriate to the weather and road conditions.
If my car has ABS, can I still use AutoSocks?
Yes. AutoSocks can be used with all electronics safety systems such as ESP, ASC+T, ASR and ABS. Unlike other traditional friction equipment, AutoSocks actually improve the performance of electronic safety systems.
Can I use AutoSocks on all-wheel drive vehicles?
Yes. Use it on the front axle.
On which tires should I use it?
AutoSocks should always be fitted to the driving wheels.
Which AutoSock size fits my tire?

Does the vehicle have to be jacked up before I install AutoSocks?
No. Just stop your car and engage the handbrake. Make sure the car is not in a slope during fitting. Pull the AutoSock over the driving tires and downwards as far as possible, and then move the vehicle approximately 3 feet to pull the remainder into position. AutoSock will automatically center itself when you start driving. If you are stuck, do as above, but then spin the wheels slightly instead of moving the car.
What about when I take them off?
They're likely to be wet and probably dirty. Put them back in their storage bag - gloves are provided. When you get home, dry them and shake the dirt out, and then remember to put them back in the car for the next time!
Can I use my AutoSock to fit a different vehicle wheel size?
This is no problem if the AutoSocks you have match the tire size of your other vehicle.
How many pairs do you get with a pack of AutoSocks?
You get one pair, which is to be mounted on the driving wheels.
Are they approved for use on roads where snow chains are mandatory?
At this time, AutoSocks are not approved as a snow chain. Areas where snow chains are mandatory are very limited, though.
If my car has limited space between the wheel and the mechanical parts, can I still use AutoSocks?
Yes. AutoSocks work even with vehicles which have low clearance between the tire and the body and between the tire and the suspension.
